Notes: Aaron Mersberg is a 1986 graduate of the Kamehameha Schools. He received his Bachelor's of Education degree from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in December 1991 and began his teaching career at James Campbell High School in ‘Ewa Beach, O‘ahu.

In addition to teaching all levels of English (remedial to Advanced Placement) from grades 9-12, Aaron also served as a Staff Development Coordinator, Accreditation Coordinator, Class Advisor, Newswriting Advisor, Technology/Network Coordinator, English Department Head, and Budget Coordinator at different times during his tenure at JCHS.

In 1996, Aaron became a State Resource Teacher with the office of Advance Technology Research, and was part of the grantwriting team which submitted and received the Federal DOE Challenge Grant that provided initial funding of the Hawaii ESchool project. In addition to helping implement the project at the program level, he also piloted one of the first online courses titled "Shakespeare Online".

In 1997, Aaron began working with the Kamehameha Schools on their pilot project for Distance Learning, and joined the Schools full-time in November 1999 as a Curriculum Design Specialist (now "Instructional Designer") for the Distance Learning Department.

Since joining Kamehameha Schools in 1999, Aaron's work as an Instructional Designer has included helping teachers to adapt their courses for teaching via distance. Aaron has also taught the "Hawaiian History" summer school cable course, and was one of the co-facilitators of the "Writing Across the Curriculum" teacher training offered through videoconferencing. Aaron was the moderator of "'Ike Pono," a monthly talkshow which dealt with educational issues in the Hawaiian community.

Aaron is currently an Education Officer with the Public School Support Division of Kamehameha Schools, working in the area of Teacher Education and Professional Development.  He also facilitates adult distance learning courses for the A'o Makua DL Program.

Aaron's professional affiliations include the Pan-Pacific Distance Learning Association), Native Hawaiian Education Association, National Indian Education Association, International Reading Association, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Hawai'i Writing Project (Fellow) and Phi Delta Kappa.

Aaron is active with church, and enjoys spending free time with his wife (Maria), daughter (Summer), son (Kainalu) and foster-son (T). Aaron is an avid reader, enjoys graphic design and website designing, and enjoys singing as well.
