Student Samples

In addition to student grades, a variety of assessments are used at various levels in the program to assess effectiveness; from student and parent evaluations of specific program components such as a Distance Learning Orientation and face-to-face or virtual field trip to individual student surveys for each unit in a particular course. Findings and recommendations for improvement based on these measures are analyzed and compiled each semester and made accessible on the program’s evaluation Web site.

As stated in previous sections, students have the ability to show their learning in different ways. Students can choose to read, write, draw, produce in creative ways to show their understanding of a concept.

Assignments and projects are evaluated using checklists and rubrics. Here is an example of a rubric used to evaluate an essay:
